Do you have a 7 - 11 year old daughter?
It's never too early (or too late) to spend some one on one time together. In fact, connecting in this way well before the teenage years will make the whole journey easier.
Time out from busy lives and so so many distractions to really connect, share stories, and have the opportunity to express to your young one how much you appreciate and care about them.
Plenty of fun and play as well.
Yep, you could go camping just the two of you or with other families - and that's a fantastic thing to do. But to have a team of facilitators guide you through a process of fun, connection, sharing, and honouring together with a group of other fathers and their daughters.
Yep, this one's for the fathers.
Girls who have healthy relationships with their fathers (or other significant adult males in their life) are more likely to delay their first sexual experience with boys and have healthier relationships in general with other men. We're so conditioned to seek male approval that if we don't get it from our dads or from other healthy non-sexual relationships with men, it can set up a dangerous pattern of seeking validation and approval in all the wrong ways.
And yes, it's a good lesson to teach her that's she's inherently worthy and valuable - regardless of the opinion of others, especially men, around her.
But if Dad, or another adult male in her life, is available and willing to step up to the plate and give her this experience - I'd highly recommend it.
These Father Daughter camps for girls aged 7-11 are offered by the Rites of Passage Institute in the beautiful Byron Bay Hinterland. I've had the pleasure of being part of the facilitation team on several occasions and it is so beautiful to witness the bond and connection deepen through these experiences. Click HERE for more info.
