Meet Jaclyn - Mental Health Social Worker & Eating Disorder Clinician
|
Hi, I'm Jaclyn
I see therapy as an opportunity for you to receive the support you need for meaningful change. I maintain an awareness that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in whether this is possible. I prioritise a collaborative partnership where goals are set together and the development of a shared belief in a different future is made possible. This means a paced, connective experience built on transparency and trust. My background reflects a deep commitment to social justice and systemic change. Before entering private practice, I spent years working within the complexities of youth homelessness, mental health, and education. My career has been shaped by a passion for working with youth and families and a belief that healing happens in community. I've led Rites of Passage programs for girls and worked in leading Adventure Therapy organisations. From these experiences, combined with a multidisciplinary academic background, I bring a grounded, multifaceted perspective to my clinical work today. I love working with people 1-1 in therapy and believe that good therapy includes a social, cultural, and environmental lens. I work with a diverse range of people experiencing complex life challenges, and always see the person before the "disorder". |
I have particular interest and expertise in supporting people who live with the impact of eating disorders and body image concerns and am a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician with ANZAED.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with AASW, which means I practice in line with national professional and ethical standards and am committed to ongoing professional development. This also means eligible clients are able to receive Medicare rebates for their sessions.
I offer psychotherapy for young people, adults and families. I work from comfortable rooms in both Byron Bay and Bangalow, as well as secure Telehealth being accessible from anywhere in Australia.
If you have questions or would like to get in touch to see if we're a good fit to work together, please reach out.
